Global migration trends

Today, more people than ever live in a country other than the place they were born. And international migrants represent about 3.6% of the world’s total population. That’s about 280 million people living outside their home countries, according to the latest numbers. And we’ve seen how difficult things can get for migrants fleeing poverty, violence — or both.
