Former Haitian senator is latest to be charged by US in murder of Haiti’s president

Joseph Joel John was extradited from Jamaica to the US and accused of aiding in a plot to kidnap and assassinate Haiti’s President Jovenel Moïse on July 7, 2021. So far, dozens of people have been arrested by both Haitian and US authorities in connection to the murder, including Colombian and Haitian American citizens. But so far, the investigations have yielded little and the leadership vacuum in Haiti has left the country in a state of chaos. Host Carol Hills speaks to Jacqueline Charles, a reporter for the Miami Herald.
